Equipment Crowdfunding

As well as Matteo’s grit and strength, the challenge demands the right boat and equipment in order to maximise performance and ensure safety.

Matteo has already funded, through personal savings and borrowing, the purchase of an amazing boat, Atlantic Inspiration, which will be his home during the crossing. With the help of individuals and businesses, Matteo has been able to continue the preparation and the start of the race is now approaching fast. With less than 6 months to the start of the race there are still some key pieces of equipment that Matteo will need.

Through this page you’ll be able to contribute to the purchase of this essential equipment.

• Electric watermaker: Essential to turn salt water into drinking water and keep Matteo hydrated (£3500)
• Life raft:Hopefully this won’t be necessary but it’s a key part of the safety kit (£600)
• Solar Panels:To power all the equipment on board, from the water maker to the GPS(£1500)
• VHF Radio:Essential for communication with other boats (£200)
• Life Jacket:Matteo will have to wear it throughout the challenge to ensure safety (£200)
• Safety Clothing:To protect Matteo during storms from the harsh Atlantic weather (£750)
• Cabin aspirators:To enable air to be pumped into the cabin, so to allow Matteo to breathe during stormy conditions when the main hatches will need to stay closed (£250)
• Para anchor: Crucial to prevent Matteo from being blown back during stormy conditions (£1000)
• Satellite phone: To enable Matteo to stay in touch with family, friends and the support team (£1000)
